Chasing money often means saying yes to every opportunity, filling every weekend with events or farmers markets, and taking on custom orders even when you're already maxed out. It’s a hustle season, and while it may bring in cash flow, it can quickly lead to burnout if it's not managed well.

On the other hand, chasing time requires building a structure that allows you to step back. This often means hiring help, investing in systems, and delegating tasks—decisions that don’t always show immediate ROI but create sustainability in the long term.

Building a Business with Intent

The early days of my flower farm were filled with passion and chaos. I said yes to everything. But over time, I realized that having a clear foundation and organized systems was essential to avoid drowning in disorganization. I had to become a student of my business—learning not only how to grow flowers but also how to manage finances, understand tax laws, and communicate clear boundaries with customers.

One of the hardest lessons I learned is that growth comes with growing pains. You can't scale chaos. Without proper organization and financial awareness, you’ll end up working harder, not smarter.

Seasons of Business

Much like farming, your business goes through seasons. Some seasons are for planting—trying new things, investing in growth. Others are for harvesting—reaping the benefits of your efforts. And some are for pruning—cutting back, realigning, and making tough choices.

Understanding which season your business is in can help you decide whether it's time to chase time or chase money. Either choice can be the right one—as long as it aligns with your long-term goals.
